Hi, my name is Thomas Stanley. I was born and raised in Costa Rica and art has been a part of my life ever since I was a toddler. Being a curious person by nature, I've always loved to explore different creative arts. After high school, I flew out to Winter Park, Florida to study animation at Full Sail University. Though I figured it wasn't exactly what I was looking for, I found a new curiosity in sound engineering. I switched careers and soon graduated with a bachelor's degree of science in Recording Arts. As of now, I'm more focused on pursuing art as it has become an essential part of my identity, here's why:

I was around 16 when I found painting again, and what seemed to be a lost hobby soon turned into something very real. Overwhelmed by the many questions about life, the world, and myself I latched on to painting. It became my escape; a space where I could slowly peel the layers of my brain. I've found some sense of understanding with every idea I develop and as I continue to live life, so does my reason for doing painting.

I paint because it's something I need to do. It's something that helps me make sense of everything, almost like an instinct. It's a liberating feeling, and it's a feeling that I will always keep exploring. Whether it's a simple, stupid or serious idea (visually or conceptually) it comes from an honest place. An honest place of curiosity about our mind, our nature, our behavior, the complexity and simplicity of humans, the world, psychology, the subconscious, dreams, science, religion, everything. Everything intrigues me. Which is why I love to find more questions than answers.

Now more than an outlet, it has become a way for me to understand my growth as a person. With that in mind, I'm at a point where I can see its purpose beyond just myself. It can lend itself to become something others could use to find clarity within themselves. Not from me directly, but rather from what they perceive from my work.
